We receive a despondent email from Luciano and Maria Angela Scotto, our producers of Gavi di Gavi DOCG.
Their harvest has not recovered after heavy rains in May and June of this year, and, although there is the possibility of making a certain quantity of wine, as they put it:
"...non saremmo in grado di fornire un prodotto di qualità come è nel nostro intendimento..."
Which translates as:
"...we will be unable to supply a product of the quality we intend..."
This is a hard decision which only adds to our respect for this great producer.
What does this mean for you, our customers, and us? Simply enough we will have to make do with what is left of the excellent 2006 and 2007.
